So this shit is what caused Hank to split with King and break up MF in the first place?! HOW LAME!!!

 :gah:

No wonder King went off on a solo career!

Thanks for posting this. It was very revealing.

I always wanted to hear what it sounded like. Thanks for the link.
Glad I didn't find out after buying the album.
I don't even know where to begin for bashing this crap. I'm speechless.

Truly awful.  Even for ultra gay 80's cheese whiz this fails miserably.

LOL....apparently the band continued on without Hank, but Bjarne T. Holm stuck around....

This is sad...

But then again, without this decision of his, we wouldn't have King Diamond and the wonderful guitar playing of Andy (maybe in another band, but not with KD).

Guess Hank thought perhaps going to more main stream form of music would turn out profitable or perhaps he had aspirations in that direction who is to say. Clearly i don't think he should have left king for that sort of thing especially when the band was becoming a force to be reckoned with on the metal scene.

But hanks still a great guy and a awesome guitar player not everyone can always make the best decisions for their future just glad he is back to playing metal.

just glad he is back to playing metal.

That's funny haha, Imagine Mercyful Fate turning into that glam crap like Venom and Celtic Frost in the 90's.
And King Dressing up like David Lee Roth  :gah:

Venom went glam...?

Looks pretty glam to me

And even the song titles and lyrics went more mainstream after Cronos left.

And this one's with Cronos

Just by standing there he seems to bring back the true Venom spirit.

I just never associated Venom with ever being glam, even if they did look it slightly in the early 90s.

Dude-- if you were a metal band back in the early to mid eighties even if your sound wasn't glam your image was glammed up. Look at the publicity photos of any rock or metal act from that time period. I challenge you to find one that didn't have on make-up, some form of spandex or their hair teased up to the fucking moon.

As for Hank's band Fate, he sold out pure and simple. Can't really blame a guy for trying to cash in I guess. At least he came back to the dark side of things when he realized how his musical legacy would turn out.

Hank started Fate after the split with Mercyful Fate. That is a big difference!

Exactly- because this is the kind of thing that Hank wanted to do! He thought it would somehow be more lucrative for him. Him and King had severe creative differences. I'm just glad that they managed to reunite after a long hiatus. In the Shadows was an EXTREMELY strong album and still stands as one of MF's very best in my book.

Pretty good for what it is: 80s pop-rock.
And I certainly can't fault Hank for trying to make a living.
Evidently the band's popular enough to reform and issue another album (sans Hank and "Bob Lance" (on of the greates stage-names ever IMHO)).
I know I'm in the minority here but I enjoy the two Fate albums Hank plays on.

This is not to defend hanks decision to try and express his musical views however as a percussionist i can clearly say working with a vocalist sometimes doesnot allow creative freedoms as musicians often need for one or more reasons.  Clearly hank wanted to try something else nothing wrong with that.  And maybe it was not best but can we really fault him for that ?

Ive tried hang gliding on a dorito but i was too fat like wtf the man has given his life to music and his efforts have made many fans including myself pleased with his dedication and effort and more shall i say aptitude for the art. Shouldn't fault hank for the decisions of his past.

One of the gayest things ever, also a "Jump" rip off.
He probably wanted to make ends meet.

Fortunately Hank came back to Mercyful Fate after his "Fate-era".
Poor popular music. I dislike that song all the time but my girlfriend likes it a lot.  ::)
