I can't rememer if I already saw this thread on the forum so I'll post it....
Do anyone has noticed that Witches' Dance-Mercyful and Symphony of Destruction-Megadeth are very similar?

I remember someone else bringing this up, but no, I don't see it in the slightest.

There are spots like that in lots of songs by lots of artists. Sometimes the first part of the Mercyful Fate song Insanity sounds like the first part of the Gwar song Licksore to me.

They don't sound similar to me at all.  The Mercyful Fate song has much more guitar work going on and completely different vocal lines and song structure.

I actually listened and tried to pick one out, the only thing I found remotely similar is the 1st couple seconds of the chorus of Symphony Of Destruction with the intro of witches dance.. but it wasn't much..

don't get it
but I remember a Mustaine interview from around 2000 where he said he wanted Megadeth to go back to playing "good old Mercyful Fate style thrash"...funny, never considered MF thrash myself

Its the descending guitar part in the very beginning of witch's dance with the guitar part in the 1st half of the chorus. "Just like the pied piper..." but thats it. I see it now, but I wouldn't say they're very similar.

Yeah the only thing I can here is the same as you guys, just that part of symphony's chorus, not enough to be 'similar'

The beginning part of the solo background music on the Jonah sounds similiar to a part of Iron Maiden's Waster Years to me. I believe Fatal Portrait and Somewhere in Time were released the same year or a year apart(??)...
