I've been learning Pro Tools and a lot of the top software like Revoice Pro, Autotune 8, Eventide(Blackhole, H3000, Ultrareverb), Lexicon PCM, various emulations of vintage hardware from IK Multimedia, Sound Toys Little Altar Boy, Melda Productions, and the Waves Chris Lord Alge series so I can record my own vocal covers and eventually other bands. Generally I just use vocal takes that are live from beginning to end and often the first time I ever sang the song with the music. It's just me in a regular bedroom without any acoustic treatment and no fx applied until I import the song into PT.

So Far I've found instrumentals or stems and uploaded:

Arrival and Family Ghost
Set the World Afire, Holy Wars, Take No Prisoners, and Family Tree-Megadeth
When The Night Comes Down, Beyond The Realms, Between The Hammer and The Anvil-Priest
See You In Hell-Grim Reaper
Madagascar, Double Talkin Jive-Guns N Roses
Spark in The Dark-Alice Cooper

There's probably a couple others along with 3 originals I recorded with a guitarist and Chris Medina engineering and playing drums years before he was on American Idol. I take things down and replace them as my mixing skills get better and I make new and improved versions. As far as King goes, I found instrumentals for Mansion In The Darkness, House of God, The Trial, Eye of the Witch, Welcome Home, Come to the Sabbath, Black Hill, The Pact, Help, Evil, Black Horsemen, Abigail, A Gruesome Time, Charon, Uninvited Guest,
Is That You Melissa, Puppet Master, A Visit From The Dead, and Dangerous Meeting. Currently I'm mixing The Trial. It's been kinda a pain to get the same reverb sound. Maybe I need to record the vocals standing further away from the mic too. I'd encourage you guys who want to sing like the King to give it a shot. Everytime I tried to sing those highs for the first time in 1998 my voice would crack and whatnot. After a few years it became pretty effortless. The hard part is the extreme precision a lot of these songs require. Try A Visit From The Dead, it's a lot harder than it would seem. Autotune won't save you either. Somehow people got this idea that it has a magic button that makes everyone sound brilliant. All it can do well is move your notes 1 or 2 semitones up or down. Drastic problems with pitch or control aren't magically fixed. If you sing higher or lower than the original singer, it's not going to put you in their range naturally. You can highlight all your notes as a group and move them in the original singer's range, but it's not a lock to sound good at all.

Nowadays there's a lot of great videos of King live so you can hear exactly what he does. There seems to be dozens of videos of the Chicago show we couldn't get tickets for last year. There seems to be a real lack of quality videos from the pre cell phone era though. I'm still trying to find stuff from past Chicago shows I attended or couldn't get into. I was very pissed that the Voodoo show was 21+ back then. I even wrote someone at metal blade at the time and they actually wrote back. Luckily the Dead Again, 9, and House of God shows were all ages or I would not have seen King until 2003.

Great job to everyone posting these clips. I had wanted to see the 93 Headbanger's Ball interview again for some time and I had never seen the Geraldo stuff.
