Daddy from The Graveyard.
« on: May 27, 2016, 06:43:43 PM »
I've been listening to The Graveyard a lot lately.
One thing I'm uncertain of lyrically is from the song "Daddy".

Who is talking during this?:

"
Daddy don't look at me like that.
I didn't do it.
He did, it was him!
I could never, I could never.
I wasn't even there.
"

Are we going back in time, where McKenzie is molesting Lucy? Is it Lucy speaking those words? And who is "him"?
Lucy can't be speaking in real time, as she is buried in one of the graves at that moment in the story.
Any thoughts?

The Graveyard, the most twisted album in the King Diamond-discography, in my opinion. A masterpiece of dark heavy metal.

I think it's from the insane man's point of view. There was some good discussion a few years back about it.

I think King said that the insane man was visited by the ghost of his dad in that moment or something like that. Makes sense since he says daddy is fading away

Yes the insane man is speaking to his dead father. Perhaps as a result of his incarceration and twisted mind he believes his father is looking upon him negatively and he is crying out that he did not commit such a terrible act and is possibly wishing for his father to stay to give him comfort and guidance.

Which is represented by the mans sadness as his father fades away.

Stay heavy
