Something I noticed about the drum intro in Welcome Home
« on: July 31, 2016, 09:48:11 PM »
Hi!
I was listening to "Them" and so the first track "Out From The Asylum" ends with "And you answer the door." Then Welcome Home starts with that really cool drum fill. Well I'm pretty sure that the drum fill is suppose to be knocking. Like someone knocking on a door!

I am not certain if that was the intent of the intro but can tell you as a drummer its a bastard to play took me quite awhile to learn welcome home lol.

It's just such a weird (yet badass) drum part.. the ending part to the drum intro is what really made me think of someone knocking on a door.

that is just a beat count i use  to play the opening fill before the riff begins 6 beats on the toms or 4 on toms 2 on foot .

It's always sounded like straight up 4/4 time to me, but I guess if you're counting drum strokes then that would explain it.

yes it is in the 4/4 timing was commenting more on the fill intro tom to bass pedal and snare after that point it is open to different techniques but does reside in the proper timing if played right most drummers will use double bass and ride cymbal accents as Mikkey did and it just sounds incredible.
