Church Of Saint Anne - This Place Is Terrible
« on: November 24, 2016, 06:01:04 PM »
I was spinning the album 9 just now, and I started thinking when I was listening to Church Of Saint Anne.
Did King do a small hint of what was to be his fate in the House Of God-story?
I mean, 9 was recorded a year earlier than House Of God, but the lyrics can be connected? No?

MERCYFUL FATE "Church Of Saint Anne":
They found him in the tower hanging from the bell
A twisted smile on his face as if he came straight from Hell

KING DIAMOND "This Place Is Terrible":
Up, up the grey cold stairs, up into the tower of Hell.
With a rope in my hand, I'm searching for the unknown land.
Father of the Universe.
Father, here I come, this place is terrible.

Maybe?

There is like The Eye some historic truth and myth to House of god long story short there is a church in southern France called the Rennes le chatue where the words this place is terrible are inscribed above the entrance...there are countless legends ranging from the blood of french kings being related to Jesus as well as the crucible of the last supper being hidden there.  Legend even suggested the body of Christ being in the catacombs below the church.

It is probably no coincidence that King wrote a song as well as an album based off said myth and legend both were incredible pieces in my opinion.

Wow, that's very interesting! Yeah, I like the connection! That smiling man hanged from the bell could be the same man who committed suicide at the end of House Of God story! I never thought of that! Nice one!
In fact I think all King Diamond stories are connected from each other in some way! Like every character and situation in King's universe is living in the same dimentional line!
